The Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety provides the candidate with a broad knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety concepts and practices with sufficient detail to enable the graduate to advise on the management of problems and issues.

 

This course will provide candidates with a professional qualification enabling the graduate to fulfil the role of a safety advisor in an organization.  The Certificate IV caters for Occupational Health and Safety Advisors in enterprises that have a dedicated OHS role, and for OHS consultants.

 

Course Content

This course aims to give students:

  • A working knowledge of the current OHS Act, its regulations, Codes of Practice and advisory standards;
  • An understanding of the skills required to recognise, evaluate and manage health and safety hazards in the workplace and the consequences of exposure.
  • An understanding of the skills required for administering various occupational health and safety functions, planning, policy development and ethics.

 

Course Modules

The Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety BSB41407 requires ten (10) modules of competency for the qualification to be awarded.

  • BSBOHS408A Assist with compliance with OHS and other related laws
  • BSBOHS401B  Contribute to the implementation of an systematic approach to managing OHS
  • BSBOHS402B  Contribute to the implementation of the OHS consultation process
  • BSBOHS403B  Identify hazards and assess OHS risks
  • BSBOHS404B  Contribute to the implementation of strategies to control OHS risks
  • BSBOHS405B  Contribute to the implementation of emergency procedures
  • BSBWRT401A Write complex documents
  • BSBPMG510A Manage projects
  • BSBCMN412A Promote innovation and change
  • BSBATSIM504A Develop organisational policies

 

Delivery

This course is offered in several formats including

 

Face to face delivery - Day Classes

The candidate will be required to complete various theory and practical assessments.  Please note, the candidate will be required to complete some research and assessment tasks in their own time.

 

Assessment

For each unit there is an assessment component.  All assessment components require a reasonable amount of time studying, implementing processes and developing portfolios of evidence.

Certificates will not be issued until all assessment tasks are complete and deemed competent.
