Building your Resources
As you work through this unit you will be introduced to and come across many valuable resources ie: websites, books, articles, policies and even contacts. Use this information to compile a resource kit. It doesn't matter whether the kit is in electronic form or paper based as long as it works for you. Although the resource kit is not part of the assessment criteria, as you develop as a trainer and/or assessor the resource kit will become a valuable reminder of where you have previously found information.
What Equipment do I Need?
Access to a computer:
- Ideally reports and forms should be word processed. Hand written reports and forms will be accepted, but must be neat and legible.
- Access to the Internet (for research)
- Access to an e-mail account (for communication). Course work and assignments can be sent by post or hand delivered, however this will slow up the process.
If you wish to keep a paper-based portfolio:
- A4 Folder x 1
- Packet of colour dividers x 1 pkt
- Notebook x 1 (for recording websites, contacts etc)
- Pens, Pencils
If you keep all your work on the computer ensure you:
- Back-up your work regularly
- Save your documents with sensible, recognisable file names
- Use a logical folder structure
What if I don’t have regular Internet access?
It is recognised that TAA candidates in a learning and assessment pathway will not always have access to the Internet. If this is the case we can put the courseware onto CD so that it can be accessed without using the Internet. If you require this option please ring: 08 9581 9543.
Access to a Practice Environment
The units in the TAA04 Training and Assessment Training Package are designed to be practiced and assessed in the workplace. Workplace application is desirable to ensure that competence to the standard required by this industry sector has been attained. Ideally, all TAA candidates should be working in or have access to an operating training and assessment environment such as an RTO, a training department in an enterprise, government or community organisation, or training services applied in a voluntary agency. For candidates in a learning and assessment pathway, a work environment provides opportunities for practice, for applying skills and knowledge and for undertaking relevant work activities that address the performance requirements of the TAA04 Training and Assessment Training Package units.
